Abstract

One of the major tenets of governance across the globe is Democracy. This tenet of governance is an all encompasses and embracing act which is engulf with many activities and processes done not only by one person or body. Therefore to have a successful and. effective democratic governance, all these bodies involved must work diligently to provide the result that will lead to good governance. Sometimes one organ may work perfectly while the other will haphazardly execute its own, this in return will not produce the desired end result of good governance. Therefore, in this paper, an examination of three major stakeholders in bringing good governance in Nigeria will be made with a view of identifying their major role towards achieving good governance. These three institutions are the INEC, Election Petition Tribunals and Legal Profession. What role are these three institutions playing, what are the shortcomings and challenges facing them shall be the focus of this paper.
