About this volume

It is with great pleasure that I present the Proceedings of the Faculty of Law International Conference (ABULC 2024), organized by the Faculty of Law, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, from 7th to 9th August 2024 under the theme: “Law and Contemporary Societal Issues.”

The conference brought together scholars, legal practitioners, researchers, policymakers, and other stakeholders from diverse fields to examine contemporary legal challenges and emerging societal realities confronting Nigeria and the global community. The papers presented reflect rigorous scholarly engagement with pressing issues ranging from artificial intelligence, cyber security, environmental governance, human rights, constitutionalism, digital economy regulation, criminal justice reform, Islamic law, corporate governance, and access to justice, among others.

This volume is therefore a rich compilation of intellectual contributions aimed at advancing legal scholarship, informing policy development, and promoting meaningful discourse on the role of law in addressing modern societal concerns. The diversity and quality of the papers underscore the commitment of the Faculty to research excellence and its continued contribution to national and global legal development.

I wish to sincerely appreciate all the authors, reviewers, conference participants, members of the organizing committee, and partners whose efforts contributed to the success of the conference and the publication of this proceedings. Special recognition is due to the members of the Conference Organising Committee for their dedication and tireless service throughout the planning and execution of the conference.

It is my hope that this publication will serve as a valuable resource to academics, students, researchers, legal practitioners, policymakers, and all those interested in contemporary legal discourse.
