Abstract

Children, by reason of their age, physical and mental immaturity constitutes one of the vulnerable groups in the society. They are dependants on parents/guardians who are adult for their necessaries of life. They need care, attention and guidance. They require as of right shelter feeding, clothing, education, religious upbringing as well as medical care for them to turn up well into the society as responsible citizens. The rights of the child are being neglected and abused by parents/guardians in so many ways such as inadequate provision of sexual abuse to mention but a few, which in turn affects the wellbeing of the child. Every child has the right to proper parental care and guidance irrespective of any contending issue on paternity.
